This year we welcome renowned theologian and author Elaine Pagels to the Institute. Her upcoming work on The Book of Revelation will root the rhetoric, hysteria and delusion that accompanies this text and eschatology in general in thoughtful scholarship and discourse. Please join us for an engaging and enlightening discussion on this timely topic.
We hope you will join us on Wednesday, May 5th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at our historic Capitol Hill campus in Seattle. Together we will create much food for thought on issues of concern to our congregations. The day will include morning refreshments, lunch, our address, a panel discussion, and the opportunity to dialogue in break-out groups.
The Book of Revelation is the strangest, and by far, the most controversial book in the Bible. It doesn’t contain a shred of an idea, nor does it contain ethics or a philosophy; instead, you find visions, dreams and nightmares. Join us as we explore what has constituted the appeal and impact of the Book of Revelation during the last two millennia. If we can understand that, we will better understand the 21st Century.

About the Clergy Institute
The strength of our nation lies in its diversity. We are a unified people without being uniform in our beliefs. We create a community that transcends the tyranny of conformity. Enduring and enriching interfaith relationships have sustained modern America through troubled times. In today’s world, the urgent need for education, dialogue and outreach between faiths and peoples has never been more apparent.
