Voulnteering for Temple
Want to Volunteer at Temple?
We are looking for people who are interested in volunteering at Temple. Click here to download the volunteer form. When completing the form, remember that there are immediate ongoing needs (Mitzvah of the Month, Women’s Shelter, Caring Community, Development/FUNraising, as well as our Get Connected! Committee which offers ways to connect with each other, our Temple and our community.
Additionally, we are looking for volunteers that we might call on for a specific task, project or purpose. To this end, we hope to get a “pool” of volunteers that we can utilize on an as-needed basis. What are your specific talents or hobbies? And how can you share them with Temple De Hirsch Sinai? It could be something as simple as reading to our young, or providing simple care for the elderly. Perhaps teaching a class such as Jewish cooking, Yiddish or Mah Jongg. Maybe you would like to meet people by assisting in setting up for a Temple function. Are you able to assist in the TDHS office when needed? Are you a grant writer? Would you be willing to assist in chronicling TDHS’s year by photographing or videotaping events at Temple? What professional talents can you lend to Temple?
As you can see, we have many ideas, yet need people-power for implementation. I hope you will complete the Volunteer Form and consider it as an opportunity to enhance Temple De Hirsch Sinai in an effort for all of us to Get Connected!
You can download the Volunteer form here.
Completed forms can be mailed to Temple at 1511 East Pike, Seattle, 98112 or by fax to: 206-454-7391.
By volunteering our time at Temple, we can connect with each other while enhancing our synagogue’s ability to repair the world. I look forward to volunteering alongside of you and I thank each of you in advance.

TDHS President

Get-Connected Committee Volunteers Needed
The Get-Connected Committee makes TDHS feel smaller and more welcoming by doing the little things. We recognize our members’ life-cycle events via personal notes; we call new members and introduce them to staff, clergy & each other. We plan events that help members sync up with others who have similar interests and needs. Our committee is in need of additional volunteers to make it all happen. This is a great way to volunteer your time to Temple if you want to serve but can’t attend a lot of meetings. If interested, contact Beth Featherstone at beth.featherstone@gmail.com.
Temple Archivist
Temple’s photos need an archivist/organizer to come in to the Seattle office and chronologically or by subject put photos collected throughout the years into a usable repository for Temple use. Are you that person? Hours are flexible pay is top of the volunteer line ($0 but great company). Contact Devlin at 206-315-7394 or at publications@tdhs-nw.org for more information.
TDHS Homeless Women's Shelter Needs Volunteers
Both male and female volunteers are welcome. The TDHS Homeless Women’s Shelter hosts 10 women Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 p.m. through 7 a.m. These women are selected by the Noel House, a homeless women's shelter located in Seattle. Volunteers drive the TDHS van to pick up the women at a day shelter downtown, and take them back to Temple where the women help themselves to an evening snack and are in bed by 10 p.m. The following morning, the women are driven back to the day shelter. For further information or to volunteer, please contact Kim Fuqua Alben at kimfuqua@gmail.com.
